The 1st International Conference for PhD Pioneers will be held offline at Renmin University of China in Beijing, China on July 30-31, 2023.
In today’s world, the trend towards globalization has encountered obstacles, and the global community faces a range of significant challenges, including climate change, geopolitical conflicts, economic stagnation, the Covid-19 pandemic, etc., which makes international cooperation more important than ever before. However, amidst these challenges, the deep communication and collaboration among young generations of PhD students from diverse national, cultural, and disciplinary backgrounds can play a crucial role in driving cooperation forward and provide intellectual support for social progress.
To this end, Renmin University of China proposes the International Conference for PhD Pioneers, an upcoming event aiming to provide a unique platform for the exchange of ideas and insights among the world's brightest and most innovative young scholars, promote interdisciplinary research collaborations, as well as spread innovative knowledge.
The business sub-forum of this conference hosted by Renmin Business School focuses on the field of business research. In particular, all submissions from PhD students/candidates that are related to (but not limited to) the following domains are welcomed:
· Corporate Finance. This theme explores the impact of financial markets, capital structure, and investment decisions on businesses and the economy. Researchers investigate corporate financing, capital markets, risk management, and investment portfolio theory to optimize financial operations and decision-making.
· Strategy. This area focuses on antecedents and outcomes of the firms’ strategic decisions, such as innovation, diversification, internationalization, cooperation, and stakeholder management. Researchers are interested in how firms adapt to changing environments and respond to institutional/market pressures. The role of top managers and director board in shaping firm strategy also attracts great attention.
· Accounting. This field investigates the recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information in organizations to support decision-making, oversight, and resource allocation. Researchers focus on aspects such as accounting information quality, accuracy of financial reporting, accounting systems, and auditing to enhance financial transparency and governance efficiency in businesses.
· Marketing and Consumer Behavior. This theme examines the relationship between marketing strategies and consumer behavior, and how marketing activities satisfy consumer needs and enhance competitive advantage. Researchers delve into market positioning, brand management, consumer decision-making processes, and market trends to optimize marketing and customer relationships.
· Organizational Behavior and Leadership. This theme investigates the impact of behavior, culture, and leadership within organizations on performance and employee development. Researchers examine team dynamics, employee motivation, and leadership styles to enhance organizational efficiency and job satisfaction.
· Management Science and Engineering. This field explores the application of scientific, technological, and engineering methods to solve management problems and optimize organizational operations. Researchers focus on management decision models, operations research, production and operations management, innovation management, and project management.
· Corporate Governance. This field addresses the roles of internal and external mechanisms in aligning the goals of managers with the interests of shareholders and stakeholders. Researchers examine governance structures, board functionality, executive compensation, media, analysts, institutional investors, and so on.
· Sustainable Development. This topic investigates how businesses achieve a balance between economic, environmental, and social goals, and contribute to the global sustainability agenda. Researchers focus on promoting sustainable business practices, resource efficiency, environmental protection, and social responsibility.
· Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This theme explores key factors related to business innovation and entrepreneurship, examining how to foster innovation, cultivate entrepreneurial spirit, and drive business growth and competitive advantage. Researchers delve into strategies, organization, and management of innovation, as well as the behaviors and success factors of entrepreneurs.
· Internationalization. This topic explores how businesses adapt to and leverage opportunities and challenges in the globalized world. Researchers focus on strategic decision-making of multinational enterprises, international market entry, and global value chain management to drive business development and success in international competition.
· Other topics related to business. Due to space limitation, other topics cannot be listed here. Any original work in the business field is welcomed.
PhD students/candidates who are planning to submit to the conference should send their personal information (i.e., name, nationality, gender, date of birth, and university/institute) to phdprogram@rmbs.ruc.edu.cn before May 24th, 2023. They should send their papers to phdprogram@rmbs.ruc.edu.cnbefore May 30th, 2023. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by email before June 2nd, 2023. Renmin University of China will provide scholarship to support the authors of accepted papers to attend the offline conference in Beijing and help them apply for visas.
